I have an Atlas whistle from WW1 in C, made from celluloid. Most beautiful tone. Strange raised holes. Love it. Tuning is not perfect, but very good, and I have learned to play pretty much any whistle in any key, with occasional caveats in some keys with very fast tunes, so the one C does me fine. Recommended if you can find one. Conical bore whistles are much softer and easier to play up high.
Hi Mark, I have three Atlas whistles myself to in C sharp / C and one marked D (Re). The two Cs are a different design but play well. The D is out of tune with itself but it may have been shortened. The are interesting whistles and I like the design.
