Curly plays the piccolo.....

Why certainly..........I wonder if Curly could actually play. Was Larry not a classically trained violinist?
Thanks to Jon C for the photo...........

Jimmy's Hall: Irish piccolo on film.

Ken Loach's new drama about the church's influence in rural Ireland features some nice music scenes with Harry Bradley on flute and piccolo. Other interesting instruments in the music scenes  are a Globe melodeon and another nice old melodeon (maybe another Globe or later Walters ?) and a Stroh fiddle........I thought these were nice touches seeing these instruments in the 1920s and 30s era dance scenes. Here
Is a link to the full movie though I'd imagine it is on YouTube illegally. I'd hope folk will to skip to the music scene at 40-4 minutes in to hear the piccolo. I hope folk will then go find a legal way to watch.

I also like that Bishop Len Brennan is the parish priest.

Ingram from Rudall and Rose sold on eBay US

This is only the second or third piccolo I have seen marked Rudall and Rose, even if it was bought in from Ingram (like flutes marked Wylde from Rudall and Rose)
It was in poor condition and sold for around 30 pounds. I forgot to bid and its repairs were beyond my skills. Interesting none the less

From the comments:

As played by McConnell’s Four Leaf Shamrocks

78 RPM recording, October 25, 1924: http://victor.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/talent/detail/13906/McConnells_Four_Leaf_Shamrocks_Musical_group Rereleased on Topic’s Irish Dance Music CD.

Simplest setting yet? Lots of whole notes, no filigrees. Get a load of this lineup: 2 violins, piano, piccolo, bagpipe, cornet, and traps. Just a wonderful record.
